A round marble coffee table set with both tops in marble, or one marble and one glass, on electroplated gold stands; the white marble tops are in ready stock.
The set is two pieces that work as one. The lower table is a round drum with two drawers set into a fluted body, trimmed in gold at the top and base. The taller table stands on a curved gold frame of vertical rods and slides over the drum, so the pair can sit tight together or open out when you need more surface. In the marble and glass option, the glass top in our photos is a tinted brown.
The drawers in the drum hold remotes and coasters, which saves a side cabinet in a smaller HDB or condo living room. The white set, with its pale veined tops and gold trim, suits a cream or grey sofa; the black set reads better against a lighter floor.
It works well if you are happy to look after it. Natural marble is porous, so coffee, wine and citrus can stain or dull the surface if they sit on it, and acidic cleaners etch it. A coffee table sees a lot of cups and snacks, so coasters and quick wiping matter more here than on a side table. Marble: wipe spills straight away, especially coffee, wine, oil, lemon and vinegar. Use coasters, placemats and a trivet for hot dishes, and clean with a damp cloth and mild soap rather than acidic or abrasive cleaners.
Sintered stone: wipe with a damp cloth and a little mild dish soap, then dry. It needs no sealing. Use a trivet for pots straight off the stove, avoid hard knocks on the edges, and lift the table rather than drag it.
Glass: clean with a glass cleaner or a damp microfibre cloth. Use placemats under ceramics and avoid knocking the edges.
