A velvet Chesterfield sofa on an electroplated gold stand, as a 3-seater, 2-seater, 1-seater armsofa or sofa bench, in cream, grey, emerald green, royal blue or a custom colour.
It has the classic Chesterfield lines: deep button tufting across the back and the outside of the arms, rolled arms that sit level with the back, and a row of studs along the front and arm edges. A slim gold stand lifts it off the floor, so the base reads as a thin line of gold under the velvet. In emerald green it is a strong colour for a living room with white or grey walls; in cream or grey it sits more quietly with marble and gold pieces.
The four pieces share the same tufting and gold stand, so they can be mixed. A 3-seater with a matching armsofa fills a condo living room, while a 2-seater with the 100cm sofa bench in front suits a smaller HDB living room where a second armchair would block the walkway. A Chesterfield is recognised by three things: deep button tufting, arms rolled over at the same height as the back, and stud or nailhead trim along the edges. The name is usually traced to 18th-century England, and the early versions were in leather. Velvet versions keep the same shape but feel softer and come in more colours, which is why they suit a living room where the sofa is meant to be the main colour. Velvet: brush or vacuum gently in the direction of the pile, blot spills straight away, and keep it out of strong direct sun. Run a soft brush along the tufting creases to lift dust. Wipe the gold stand with a soft dry cloth only; abrasive cleaners can scratch the electroplated finish.
